And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. – John 1:5

It occurred to me this morning that this verse at the beginning of the Gospel of John perfectly summarizes the Gospel as it plays out in the world, and in our lives.

Jesus Christ is, of course, the Light the shines in the darkness:

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. – John 8:12

When Christ came, He brought the full light of the kingdom of God into the kingdom of darkness… that is: the worldly kingdom. Christ brought the kingdom of heaven into this present darkness of the kingdoms of this word, but the darkness could never comprehend the righteousness of the light of Christ.

In Christ’s life – that brilliant revelation of the Gospel – the world despised Christ, and the light He brought, fought against Him, and killed Him on the cross.

In doing so, they thought they had defeated the Light…. but the world did not comprehend that in defeating Christ physically – that is: according to the natural precepts of this world – that they actually brought victory and redemption to those of us who were trapped and enslaved in this kingdom of darkness:

[Let us] Giv[e] thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: – Colossians 1:12 & 13

This was all done because the darkness did not comprehend the Light. Could not know, could never comprehend, could never grasp the Light.

Now, we who are Christ’s have been given this Light: that is Jesus Christ Himself, who said to His followers:

Ye are the light of the world. (Matthew 5:14a)

Just as Christ could never be comprehended by the world – could never be understood, or grasped by the darkness, no more can the darkness of this world comprehend the Truth of the Gospel today; no more can the world comprehend the saints of God today.

And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. – John 1:5

In our day the darkness is growing darker and darker. We are in the last days (1 John 2:18), and the darkness grows darker – and still cannot comprehend the light.

This world establishes for itself new morals, which it thinks are based on kindness, goodness and love. All of these (kindness, goodness and love) come from the Gospel. But they cannot comprehend it.

They say that it is love to support a confused person in their confusion: to affirm people who cannot comprehend whether they are even male or female in their confusion.

And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. – John 1:5

Is it love to encourage someone into self-destructive behavior? Into mental illness, personal conflict, and self-mutilation? No. It is not love. The world cannot even comprehend love.

It is in fact, hatred; to despise one enough to actively encourage them to self-destruction. They feel it is love, but they cannot comprehend love because they have not comprehended Christ.

God is love.

7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. – 1 John 4:7 & 8

Everyone who loves… ACTUALLY loves is born of God. Infatuation, a displaced sense of kindness and affirmation, fixation, these things are NOT love. They are merely darkness attempting to comprehend it. The darkness can never comprehend the light.

Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. – John 12:35

Those who walk in darkness, who cannot so much as comprehend the light are going to hell, and they don’t even know it. Should you warn them as Christ did, they become offended because they cannot comprehend the light.

Interesting thing about the life of Christ: Jesus did not go around affirming people in their darkness. He rebuked them, He warned them of the danger of hell. Why? Because He loved them. The world would say that His words were unkind, judgmental; they could not comprehend why He would come and bring warning. They didn’t understand it was love being shown to them.

So while I do not aim to politicize, I will end this with a practical recommendation: Abandon Disney (not ‘boycott,’ abandon). Do not support, give to, or allow them to indoctrinate your children with darkness. They have waged war on the light, no longer privately, but now publicly, bringing into the light their evil deeds. Even our own government is calling evil good and good evil.

The darkness is waging war against the light today.

Walk in the Light so shall ye be children of the light.

Ephesians 5:8-17

8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
