So, I think what I’d like to do is go to school to become a Physical Therapist. My intent in the end is to do missions work; PT would be applicable anywhere in the world, and has the potential to be lucrative enough to cover travel expenses and would be a great companionship skillset to missions.

The tricky part is… well, my station in life. I am working dad whose salary (nearly) covers living expenses for our family of now six. I’m 36 years old, and not a college graduate (I’ve written and self-published two books, which as works of biblical non-fiction – and again, self-published – are not exactly golden geese). So, obtaining a PT degree would take between 6 and seven years schooling full time. Schooling part time and working…. well that would be a much longer process.

I might expect financial aid to cover tuition, but that would still leave me working full time to cover living expenses. I wonder if anyone out there knows of scholarship programs?

I don’t like the idea of ‘fund-raising’ for missions… I know there are people out there looking to invest in ministries, but I’d like to focus on preaching the word, and not begging people for money. I know from experience that many of those who are schooling, or working in the mission field oft have their relatial focus with other ‘church people’ revert to a money focus. I’ve gone to fellowship lunches wih people only to discover it’s a sales pitch on funding their mission or schooling. I’ve also had the experience of giving all the money I had to a mission while unemployed in obedience to Christ only to have that same ministry thereby expect me to become a perpectually generous money-faucet… sorry man, can’t give what you don’t have.

Anyways, Physical therapy interests me, and could be a viable skillset for the real focus: preaching God’s word.

As implied already, I’d rather school full time if possible, I’d like to study martial arts as a supplementary skillset (something in the physical education sphere I could teach) and be involved in campus ministry.

Any rate, if any of my readers know of good resources for pursuit of the path, I’m all ears, leave a comment below or reach out through my contacts page. Otherwise prayers and faih are appreciated!

Standing on the promises of God:

Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. (Mark 1:17)

Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. (Psalm 2:8)

May the Lord receive the reward of His sacrifice; may our lives be spent to bring the lost unto the Good Shepherd.
