Here am I, yet again. I come with nothing, because I have nothing. All I have is that which You have given, and all that it is I return to You. I come to give You everything.
I see that we are lost in the multitude of our comings and goings, the necessities of life draw us into the complexities of taking care of business in this temporal world. And this is from You, for surely You would have us to make an impact. As it is written: ‘I had fainted unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.’ So the inspired writer’s faith was not the absent ethereal, but hat Your intervention made an effect here in this life, also.
I try very often to be apart from this world that I may be with You – let not my concern for others be absent as my heart draws aside unto Thee – yet You have appointed me to be here in this world for this momment, and how grateful I am to be alive because I know You… and knowing You is eternal life: life beyond this world.
While I hope never to be lost in the pattern of this world, cause me to be strong in those things required of me, and diligent. Surely You have preserved me, and if I have a purpose in this world is it not to shine the light of You? I know that You would that none should perish, but that all would know You: inheriting eternal life. Yea, I, too had fainted unless I believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Enable me to preach the Gospel, for it is what I live for. Open the way, and make tender the hearts that all may see You, and be saved. I have no hope in this perishing world, but I have already entered paradise, and live eternally with You in New Jerusalem. Let me not be consumed with the things of earth, but master them simply in order that I may see that goodness of yours in this world.
As the wise man prayed: give me neither poverty, nor great riches. Give me souls.
